Our 5,5 year old V has clear holes in her molars, they look like cavities to me. Vet checks her teeth upon visits but always said she can see I give her plenty of chews to keep her teeth clean. I’ve started to brush the K9s too but not the molars in the back.
She’s always been a bit of a nervous scratchy, allergic dog so she’s been scratching her jaw and ears as long as I remember (ears are cleaned every week, and frequently checked by vet). She gets allergy meds during summer but scratching is also a bit of a nervous habit for her, when she has to wait or is unsure. Is also on hypoallergenic food, and besides the occasional fruits she does not get sugar.
Recently I started to think, what if these are cavities, and she scratches her jaw because they irritate.
