G'day g_man,

I too am awaiting my first V. I went last weekend and choose my puppy. I went with a female because I love the very delicate and refined look, and because my other dog, a shelter rescue, is female as well. I was very lucky to find a breeder within a 1 1/2 hour drive from my home here in Texas.

Best of luck with your new baby!!

Remember takes lots of photos in those first 2-3 months after you get your pup. They grow like mad and by 8 months they will just about be full height.

My 9 month old is sleeping under my desk right now. Can't wait for winter to come, then I can stick my feet under her! ::)

All I can say is you're in for a blast. Vizslas are one of a kind. The most important thing I can tell you is make sure your your V gets out EVERYDAY for at least a nice long walk. Train it early with lots of positive reinforcement consitence and patience and of will be eager to please. They need a leader and exercise or will drive you crazy. Pictures, yes they grow quick (but not grow UP!!!) . as far as M or F... I'm one sided towards males bit they are all great. Most importantly Have Fun!

Edit - I forgot, Besides your dogs (second) best friend, your (second) best friend is a whole variety pack of (strongly reccomended black) KONGs
