This will be my first post. My husband and I will be bringing home our Vizsla puppy in a month. She will be our first Vizsla, but we are not first time dog owners. Our puppy will be raised in a loving, active household where she will be one of “us.” We have two teenagers and they are over the moon. After we lost our Lab/Pitt mix last year, our house has been so empty. Our friends have a Vizsla and we just adore him. With the exposure we have had to the breed, we know this breed is right for our family. I began researching breeders in February. We visited our breeder and met our pups parents - I am thankful to this forum because I knew what questions to ask to be sure that we were purchasing a Vizsla from a reputable breeder. After we were approved (I love how picky our breeder is- making sure families are right for her pups) we had our name on an early summer “to be born” litter. They are so adorable - we receive a video and picture every few days from the breeder and we go to visit this week. I can’t tell you all how excited we are!
We raised our late dog Cooper from a puppy and we provided him with an a long leash walk, a long romp in the woods and yard/ball time everyday of his life even as he aged. He went everywhere with us as he was part of our pack. Cooper was well trained (which took a lot of work) both on and off leash. Cooper taught us that a physically/mentally exercised dog is a happy, sound member of the family. We loved our years with our dog- we just adored him and I want his memory to be part of our new journey with our Vizsla.
I look forward to this forum to share experiences with our puppy and have a place to ask Vizsla experts some questions.
My first is:
I’m in nesting mode- I have purchased all new toys of the ones we had for Cooper (Kong, Chuck-it, Jolly Ball...) but are there some puzzles or other toys that are good for occupying a Vizsla puppy?

First of all welcome and cannot wait to see pictures and hear stories about your girl. Always so exciting to wait for their arrival.

In my experience they love plushy toys a lot, just need to be for a pup a chew proof one. I found the ones with less stuffing more suitable for chewing puppies. Go Dog has several of those and Kong Knot seemed to have been a good choice for us. Ours like the puzzle toys too, but we waited with those till 4-6 months old. The more toys the better, and alternate them between washes. Something about vizslas and a new or long not seen toy:). We also got antlers and himalayas chews for them from early onwards, helps soothing during teething a lot.
