There are two girl pups available (bred by a friend.). I was keen to work / show but I am a novice at working a vizsla. I already have a vizsla and only have room for 1 more.
The boys in this litter look really fantastic and have a great balance of traits but I want a girl.
Parents are both bigger vizslas but one girl is noticeably tinier and much thinner in the body and face than the others so she doesn't look like she is going to be a good example of the breed and is also possibly going to stay very dainty? Or could she catch up? I can't imagine her doing well at a show. She has always been healthy and usually wins the toy off the others and seems to be the smartest. She was the first to learn to escape the pen and is the first to pounce on/find the food etc. She is also very mouthy and nippy (but licks and snuggles when held or rolled on her back.) This worries me a little as we hone of our children is a bit sensitive.
The other one is stockier and bigger and a better example to look at. She was always the most submissive of the pups, she sits and waits for food to be given to her and is generally very calm. She seems a little bit nervous in that a sudden loud noise will make her tremble a bit unlike the others. She is however great with the children, plays with them, not very mouthy and loves sitting on a lap. She is actually the one that will reliably bring the ball back each time even though she is very passive and therefore probably not as smart as her sister.
Having spent time with the pups I'm now quite attached to both but I don't know whether I should just say no to either and wait for a more conventional looking puppy in another litter with the smarts of the former?
