Hi there- I have been a golden retriever and red doberman person all of my life. However now at age 65 my husband and I are rethinking our next choice of a dog. We just purchased a 33 foot sleep on boat for on the water adventures and I know that a golden is a pretty safe bet for being on and in the water. They usually love swimming and are so obedient and willing to please. However there is that big fluffy coat issue. A V. would be very easy to care for, wash and wear, and would probably be a little lighter in weight compared to a female golden. We are getting older and although we are both in really good physical condition, picking up and carrying a dog onto a boat could become an issue. Anyone know of breeders who breed for smaller size? Can anyone talk about their V's on boats and how are they in the water? Any issues with motion sickness, etc. Any info would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
