My wife is a laid up from recent surgery so my son took our 2 beasts for a run in a park we frequent often.

Crossing a small stream a muskrat jumped in and went into the culvert.
Rez our female spotted its and followed into the culvert (24").

My son said it sounded like a cage match for a minute. Lost of strange squeals and growling.

Our little girl finally came out a little worse for wear . A puncture over her right eye/A hole in her left ear and a nasty bite below her left eye. Lots of blood.

So it was off to the emergency vet. After sedation they cleaned up the blood
and flushed the wounds out. She was good to go!

We had a good run of over a year with no emergency vet visit's. Let us hope no more for a long time.

Poor girl, she probably knew that muskrats are highly nutritious to eat (lean meat, high on iron), so was probably just out for a snack! 🥰. next time you are at a pond around beavers be careful, that meat is like superfood for them!

Glad she is okay.
June use to catch nutria rat. She was just lucky, that she was never bitten.
