Our 6.5-month-old puppy Sepp was diagnosed with hypertrophic osteodystrophy last week. He was in a lot of pain and had a high fever. He has been on prednisone all week and has already tapered off a bit. Today he has a high fever again and is walking with difficulty on one leg. We increased the dose again a little on the vet's advice.

Who has experience with this condition? And how did it turn out with your pup? Do you have any good tips?

We find it terribly sad to see Sepp like this.

I don’t have experience with the condition directly myself but it may be worth you looking into rehabilitation ie a veterinary physiotherapist or hydrotherapist if suitable to help him through the condition while he finishes growing. Even if it’s to help him just be more comfortable. Sorry to hear you’re going through this with your pup. There seem to be a lot of resources online to help manage at home.

I’ve never owned one with HOD. Hoping you can keep him comfortable until the symptoms go away
