I have a 22 month-old female vizsla. She went into her first heat two days after she turned one. This was a little later than her mother and sisters but earlier than her grandmother, according to the breeder. She is my first intact dog and everything seemed to go well as far as I can tell.
She hasn't cycled since. I'm sure I could make it happen if I sign her up for some sporting event (joking), but I'm simply curious how long your own dogs have gone between cycles. I know young dogs can have irregular cycles, but I can't seem to find any actual information on it besides that. The repro vet that taught a couple lectures I attended mainly talked about cycles from a breeding stance, so she was focused on older dogs.
She's happy, healthy, off the walls wild otherwise. Good BCS of 4/9. I just don't know how normal the once a year cycle is for vizslas.
