Sweet young Vizsla boy, that's going to be my next foster. He's not ready for adoption yet.
His medical needs need to be taken care of first. They include eye, and ear infection, a case of worms, and mange.

Guess I need to add pictures.
He is with Cane Rosso rescue.

No, he was found wondering the streets in South Texas. They are guessing only about 8 months old. But when malnourished, they can appear younger than they are. He's not chipped, so a good chance we will never know his story.

I just have to figure out how to keep me, and the other dogs from getting scabies.
I will have to fix him a spot separate from them for the next two weeks, and use gloves when handling him. I'm going to research what other protocols I need to put in place, or we will all be itching. 😨

I won't get him till this weekend.
In his videos he looks sweet, and just wants attention.

Poor baby! A velcro Vizsla, more than another breed, would suffer from abandonment & being alone on the streets. Good on you, Deb, for his fostering.

Possibly the only good thing about scabies/mange: "However, canine scabies and feline scabies are not caused by the same type of mite that triggers human scabies. You can get mites from handling an infested pet, but these mites can’t reproduce in human skin. This means they usually die off without causing serious symptoms." (https://www.webmd.com/skin-problems-and-treatments/ss/slideshow-scabies-overview). Still, you don't want to get them and transfer then to your guys.

From a long time Vizsla rescuer, I've been told to wash everything daily in hot water. That anything I wear needs to go straight to the washer, no putting it in the hamper.
This includes his bedding, and it's recommend that I wash mine more than normal. I look at it as a small price to pay, to get him started. He will be getting here on Sunday.
Going to take the next couple of weeks, to figure out if he is going to be more than a foster to my family. I don't normally adopt my fosters, but he could be the exception.
He has a lot of interest in him, so I don't want to keep people waiting to long.

Odi is here.
Hard to get a picture without him scratching, but he's a sweetheart.

We transported sweet little Hazel up with Odi. The plan was for her to be with me a couple of days, then catch a ride to Dallas.
That all changed. She has labored breathing, so I rushed her to the vet this morning. Then she was transferred to a specialist. She's on oxygen, and having emergency surgery today for a diaphragmatic hernia. The intestines had push into the lung cavity, and collapsed one of her lungs.
Little Hazel could use some prays.

Thank you.
She's out of surgery, and they have been able to take her off oxygen. So that's a great sign. The next 12-24 hours are critical. If she can get past them without any complications, she should make a full recovery.
If anyone would like to donate towards her, or one of the other dogs. I will post the link. They have had a very expensive last couple of months. Puppies with parvo, trying to save a mother, and her litter with distemper. Two dogs that had to have leg amputation. Jesse being one of them.
This was just the deposit for Hazel today.

He reminds me more of Miksa than Bende. Laid back, great big paws, and that pretty prancing gait. Although not as pretty, and pronounced as your pups gait.

Hazel was able to leave the ER vet, and go to her foster.
Odi continues to settle in. He's still very itchy, but it's going to take time for that to get better, and his skin to heal.
I haven't been taking, or posting a lot of pictures, because they would all be the same. Either he is scratching, or I'm rubbing him with rubber gloves on.
He has shampoo, a spray, and were giving apoquel a try. Hoping it gives him some relief.

As I recall from picking up my current German Shepard there are different types of mange (sarcoptic (sp) etc.). Your vet should be able to tell you the appropriate treatment plan based on their determination of the type from microscopic exam of skin lesion flake samples.

Fortunately my GSD didn’t have actual mange so soothing shampoo (eg. oatmeal) and once daily gentle brushing/skin stimulation cleared up his patches in 10-14d. The ear infection was the hardest to deal with, including some small lasting damage. Hope he cleans up as nice as my boy did!! :)

He has been to the vet, and had skin scrapings. Given Bravecto, injectable ivermection, antibiotics, eye drops, a spray to help cut down on skin infection, and itch. Now another pill to help cut down on itching. Even after the mites die, there is still going to be some days of itching.

Odi was able to start his vaccinations yesterday. He's picking up weight, and his skin is looking better. He's turning into the normal silly Vizsla. Likes to snag towels, and trot around with them. I have to keep my coffee cup up high, or he tries to get a quick taste.
He goes back to the vet on Thursday, for his next round of mange treatment.

He's a doll with people.
Sadly he's not a fan of Shine. ☹
She's a in your face kinda dog, that thinks every new dog should want to be her best friend.
So he will stay my foster, until the perfect home is found for him. He gets neutered, and chipped next week. That way he will be ready for his new family.
