Cool Miksa at exactly 5 months

Drove to Austin yesterday with my beautiful boys. Plan was to have Miksa introduced to the show ring and just see how he enjoys / accepts that world, signed up for the 4-6 month puppy category. Then have Bende do his first Rally O trial, he is now well prepared and mom knows all signs at this level by heart.
What ended up happening, Miksa turned out to enjoy the ring so much and put his tail wiggling charm on the judge, that he won the whole sporting group for his age, beating i believe 14 other beautiful pups. Never made it to Rally O with Bende, they closed down by the time we finished with Miksa. Little pup, so handsome and his reaction to the toy he got was worth the whole travel. Mom is far from being an experienced show handler (this was my 3rd time in the ring), but Miksa caught up very quickly.

posting a picture from the night before the show and his rewards, did not have time to get those stacked up pictures with him and the ribbon.

Congratulations on his first win.
I bet there is more to come in the future.

Thanks everyone, the win was nice and i feel honored, but for me personally it means more how much he enjoyed the whole show. We had a very nice judge encouraging everyone not to put any pressure on the pups, just let them have fun and was petting each and every pup giving everyone lots of individual attention.
Riley455, we plan to go to the nationals as Bende is qualified both in AR and distance jump for dock diving. Wasn't`t originally sure whether to take Miksa for this long trip, but after seeing how quickly he adjusted to the hotel environment 2 weeks ago, it looks like he will be traveling to Orlando too:-). I am thinking of entering him into the 6-9 month category, he will be 6.5 months old. That won`t make me a very experienced handler, but we practice now every day a little and plan to go for one more puppy show. So hope to see u there, who are u bringing?

I totally get it. It's only fun, if the dog is having fun.
Ranger is taking a month break for obedience class. He loves going, doing recalls, and heeling work. But his new lack of enthusiasm (possible boredom) on some of the other stuff, said its time for a break. He loves being in the field more, so we will do more off that. Then give it another try. If he starts to show the same response. We will find something else, that he finds fun.

Trying to be here for June, and Shine. Then help my daughter some with the twins, made it a easy choice. I'll drive a hour each way, for him to do something he enjoys. But if its not fun for him, its not fun for me either.

I am fully with you. I love doing activities with my (now plural lol) vizslas. But other than having to teach basic manners i would never make them do anything which i don`t see them doing with tail wag and a grin on the face. Even the basic manner teaching i am trying to make enjoyable as much as possible, but obviously if u were to ask them whether it is more fun to wait on the doggy bed for a treat or counter surf/hunt for it and do self-service we would have a very obvious answer haha.

I meant the Vizsla national in Wisconsin in May next year and not the Orlando national. But great that you are going to Orlando this December. I hear it's quite an experience with big and beautiful venue. Good luck!
