Know thy breeder

I got a text from rescue, late yesterday evening.
Dogs living in horrible conditions, two hours away. Breeder surrendering them to the Marshal, to escape felony charges. He will still face charges, they just will not be felonies. The agreement was only made. So the dogs could quickly get help.
They are not Vizslas, but this kind of thing can happen to any breed.
A few pictures I took of their living conditions

The person in the picture, is Not the owner.

I was there to transport dogs out for Cane Rosso rescue.

These poor babies made the local news.

I am not a particularly religious individual, but when I see stuff like this, I am filled with the deep faith that there's a special place in **** reserved for those who actually put another living creature thru this type of torture and neglect. . Good grief, there isn't a punishment yet devised by mere mortals that quite fits this level of inhumanity.

@gingerling
I'm not sure what punishment, would be harsh enough for this person. Dogs died on that property, from lack of food, and water. If a couple of them hadn't dug out, no one would have ever known their plight.

horrible, and cannot imagine how someone can sleep at night knowing what they were doing to these dogs...

another thought on this: u see a lot of people advertising still the adopt don`t shop slogan... and they refer often to situations like this or other type of backyard breeders, while not understanding that in order to keep up with high quality purebred dogs we do need to `shop` sometimes, supporting breeders with the right attitude and integrity. very difficult topic for sure.

While I do help a lot with rescue, I am not a fan of the slogan. Most people in rescue, don't get to meet the good breeeders. They meet the crappy ones, and it can skew their judgement.

The acronym for shop, should be this.
S.H.O.P. with a reputable breeder, you get Screening, Health testing, Obligation, and Passion

Just as I would never buy from some breeders.
I won't foster for some rescues.
People need to do research on both.

On a sidenote, some of these dogs had OFA health clearances. Who knows if the health clearances, matched the correct dog. It's just getting to be another way, to scam people.
