Thought we might have a tropical storm

Wouldn't you know it went to a tropical storm, and then to a category one hurricane in the same day.
They are projecting a category three when it makes landfall Friday night, or Saturday morning. Then it stalling with 15-25 inches of rain.
I would like the weather center to be wrong, and it not stay with us for days.

I agree. We have lived in Houston since 2011 and this is our first hurricane! We're wondering how our 9 week puppy will do going out in the rain. Stay safe @texasred.

With a tiny puppy, I would pick up a square or two of St Augustine grass today. Place it in the garage, or cut down a card board box for the grass to sit in. And put it in the laundry room. The puppy will have a easier place to go potty during the storm.
If you lived here for that long, you know what areas flood, and to avoid. Its not a direct hit for Galveston. So Houston shouldn't have it as bad, as some past hurricanes. But being on the dirty side of the storm, means more rain. It's very close to a category 3 this morning.
June is scared of bad weather, and Ranger has been using her Thunder shirt. I've got to pick up a second one today.

We're going from total eclipse of the heart, to rock you like a hurricane.

Was Ike the last one to hit Houston? We were out power for a week, but of course that's nothing like what happened to Galveston. Glad they won't get the brunt of this one.

Yes, Ike was the last one to hit Galveston.
Unless something changes, Houston should only get tropical storm winds, and rain from this one.

OH!!! I can't even imagine riding out one of your storms... I will take an earthquake over a hurricane, or tornado ANY day!!!
We had a mini Hurricane at my home which was right on the Santa Monica Bay in So. Calif back in 2001. Lost power, and it sounded like a freight train.
I had just gotten home from work it was about 4pm... I ran a nice hot bath, got a glass of wine and listened to the derbies bouncing off the roof ( and praying none would hit
my car, which was in the drive way) it only lasted about 20 min, and all was still again. But the neighborhood was in tatters.
Nope!! Nope!! Nope!!
I will pray for you my dear Texans Maybe ol Harvey will just blow itself out and leave y-all alone!!!
Hope!! Hope!! Hope!!

We did it at the beach house this year. Maverick was still recovering from knee surgery, and not suppose to climb stairs.
The balcony was huge. So we just placed a couple of grass squares in one corner.
A lot easier than carrying a 85 lb dog up and down the stairs.

Thanks for the grass idea. It worked very well today in our garage. It has been great to just cuddle with our Lexi in this rainy and lazy Saturday!

Glad it worked for you.

Just a update.
Last I looked there was over a 180 road closures due to flooding. Its still raining, and is expected to continue. My house is still dry inside, and I think it will stay that way.
My sister's house has flooded, along with my brother's home. Mother in law has a small amount of water in her home, and my mother's garage, but not in her home.
The flooding from this storm has been very wide spread.
