Exclamation New Site Look - Community Feedback Thread

Hello all,

Note the site will be undergoing some additional changes over the next 24 hours, please hang in there with us while we sort out the issues.

We should have the next format live Thursday PM but will be finishing it up on Friday 3/10 since the conversion took longer than expected.

I will post a feedback thread once we are done to provide feedback and sort any issues.

Thanks in advance and sorry for the delay.

To all the volunteers who keep this site running...the new format is beautiful! Thanks for all you do.

I have to agree the new look is much better. Looks less like something out of the 80s (which it probably was!)

A few things I have noticed which you may still be working on:
  • Login is not over a secure page. Trying to access the forum over a secure page (https://www.vizslaforums.com) also doesn't work.
  • Access via Tapatalk doesn't appear to be working correctly. Can login but new and unread posts displays nothing.
  • The 'likes' have gone - is this a permanent change?

Don't seem able to edit a post now (that might be a deliberate choice). I was wrong about the 'likes', they are still there. What confused me is that the total likes used to appear under the user profile details on the left column but they don't now.

Conversely, I'm not a big fan of the new look at all. Here are my main critiques:
- I dislike that each message in a thread has its own dark green banner - the messages are harder to read/scroll through as a conversation. It breaks it up visually.
- The new site uses more data, it loads much more slowly on my phone and tablet.
(*was going to complain about the lack of "like" button but realized it is there in the bottom corner - just harder to see)

I know going back to the old site is not an option (which is a shame because, although dated, it was clean, simple, relaxing to look at (I liked the green backgrounds!), easy to navigate...) , but I do hope other members provide their feedback too so we can tweak this one to please everyone

Perhaps I'm just missing it lost in the new layout, but where is the "posts since last visit"? I used that every time I came to the site so I don't have to scroll through every thread - a quick skim to see if interested in a topic or not.

I think we are all learning the new layout.
If I click the Forum tab at the top, it will also show me a Recent Discussions side bar on the right side of the page.
You can also use the Notifications, and Subscriptions to see posts you've commented on in the past. It can let you know if anyone has quoted, or commented on your past post. They are directly underneath the Gallery Tab.
You can also click the New Posts tab at the top, and then decide how many days you want to go back up to 2 weeks.
So far the desktop version is a lot more user friendly, than the phone version. But I have hopes it will be worked out.
