Yes, it seems to be working fine now. I just had to go and click on all the old threads from months ago that were showing as "New" for me. I'm not sure why but since I did that it seems to be fixed.

Any chance of a darker background (as einspanner mentioned) or getting rid of the ugly green top bar on each post?

I am literally checking the forums less because I find it so visually unappealing.

Also - is it just me or is it not possible to scroll through attached images or close the open image? It seems like I need to press "back" to get out of the image and then the page reloads... every time....

Look at any major website and they all use black text on a white background for the simple reason that the high contrast makes it easier to read and as someone who spends a lot of my day in front of a screen, I will take practicality over aesthetics any day (and from a personal view I don't think coloured backgrounds usually look good anyway). It is especially important for people who suffer from any degree of visual impairment.

You will never get agreement on aesthetics. From the posts here, some people like the new look, some don't. For me it is the content that counts and that's what I come here for (new look or old).

I work in the field of office ergonomics and have suffered from post-concussion syndrome -- light background with black text tends to be hard on the eyes and cause brain strain for those with sensitivity
A dark skin would work and also uses less battery on wireless devices.
Anyhow, glad for more opinions to be voiced.

It's not nearly as nice as the old way, but you can see your "unread". When you do "New Posts", it lists all the posts in the selected time period. The ones that are unread are marked with a dark/bold envelope icon in the leftmost column. Read ones are marked with a faded icon.

Somewhere there's a key to those icons, but I can't find it.

I'm agreeing with most now. I've given the vbulletin format a chance and I must admit that the old smf format was more user friendly, but I doubt the forum owners will backtrack back to smf,,,shame.
